The centre by the port and promenade is the liveliest and most international; La Mata to the north leans toward the dunes and natural park, while Punta Prima, Playa de los Locos and the southern urbanisations toward Orihuela Costa offer newer housing by the beaches.

Two salt lakes (the Lagunas de la Mata natural park), a long promenade, a port with a marina, a water park and a dense Eastern-European network of shops, doctors and services. Alicante airport is roughly 40 minutes away.

Torrevieja suits the budget-conscious, yield-focused investor, and the international buyer who values a familiar community for both living and letting.

The summer peak is very strong, but thanks to the expat community and a mild winter, winter demand from winterers persists — vacancy between tenants is lower than at purely seasonal resorts.
